Es gibt kaum noch Wildfänge des Clownfischs, daher kann es manchmal eine Weile dauern bis dieser in die Anemone „einzieht“. In der Natur findet man den Clownfisch in Wirtsanemonen wie einer Heteractis oder auch einer Teppichanemone an, aber sie nehmen eigentlich alle Anemonen an. Er geht aber auch auf uns los, wenn wir beim Putzen der Becken seinem Zuhause zu nahekommen. Clownfische können in Gruppen gehalten werden, wobei es immer nur ein Weibchen und mehrere Männchen gibt.
